In 2018 Weezer released a cover of Toto’s Africa after a fan campaign and, despite it being awful, Toto said nice things about it.

That era is over.

Toto’s Steve Lukather gave his views to the New and Approved Podcast:

“I don’t know about him loving the song, man. I don’t think that’s the case at all… I think he did it to take the piss out of it and it blew up in his face… Now he’s gotta play it every night!”

“I tried to reach out to this guy and be friendly and it just got weird… I don’t want to get into it, but peace and love. It was good for them, it was good for us. God bless.”
