The Hive ats centre in Shrewsbury is under threat as costs rise and funding falls. Step forward one local man…

…who happens to be Charlie Adlard, the illustrator of the widely successful Walking Dead comic (among others).

He’s decided to help The Hive, so he sat in three Shrewsbury coffee shops and drew, releasing the results as an artbook called Coffee Shop.

“I think art centres like this are really important because obviously they’re part of the community and there’s a lot of people that without somewhere like the Hive haven’t got access to anything like this,” Adlard said. “I thought it’d be a really good thing this year to just get back to drawing and I like coffee as well so I thought I’d combine two of my favourite things.”
