Waterloo Road: Tom’s Problematic By Lola Louise

I always liked Tom growing up, he was a great character but god, I didn’t realise how problematic he really was. The man can not for the life of him stay with one person. He’s a serial cheater who can’t help himself.

Series 1 & 2
He cheats on Lorna with Izzie then gets married to Lorna anyway. He continues to cheat on her. Then when he’s on a break with Izzie, he gets back with Lorna. Oh and both Lorna & Izzie are best friends. Both of them die within weeks of one another leaving him single.

Little did we know till Series 5 that Tom had an affair prior with his tutor at college, Georgia, she had his son, Josh.

Series 3 & 4
It’s barely been any time since Tom lost Izzie, who was probably the love of his life. He gets with Davina. Their relationship was stable enough, less complicated. Davina, well, you could say she cheated on Tom meeting with ex Jack at the end of the series. That’s up for debate. They stayed together though.
Tom gains a soft spot for Rose Kelly on her arrival Series 4, even going above and beyond for her. Lending her money and doing everything he can. It’s very obvious the feelings are there, he’s hiding things from Davina, like taking their joint savings. Nearing the end of the series, she’s had enough and leaves when seeing what he’s hiding.

Series 5
Tom then gets with Rose, he has it on & off with her the whole way through and taking her kids under his wing. He’s with her for quite a while but didn’t move in because of the Josh situation happening. It caused a lot of conflict. We don’t see a lot of Rose after a certain point.

Series 6
Tom had an on/off relationship with Cesca, the new Spanish teacher but she’s got a thing for student, Jonah Kirby. He’s never not got involved with someone problematic.

Series 7 – Part 1
Tom has a thing with new English teacher, Eleanor. That didn’t last long and neither did she. She was gone very fast.

Series 8 – Onwards
Tom finally doesn’t have a relationship although I kind of think him and Christine had quite a lot of potential. I feel there was chemistry.

It isn’t long before Tom joins Izzie and Lorna in, well, afterlife. How awkward is that?! I can imagine the fights. There’ll be so much conflict. Everyone pretends Tom is the nicest and best character but if we’re realistic, he’s extremely problematic and needs to keep his you know what in his pants.
