Ahead of their appearance at Beacons Festival and a UK tour, Best Friends have announced a new single, ‘Happy Anniversary’, due for release through long time cohorts Art Is Hard Records on the 23rd September. The bands discography has been a collection of lo-fi recordings, so it’s refreshing to hear Best Friends recorded in a ‘proper’ recording studio.
It starts off with gentle guitars and solemn vocals before evolving into a thrashing three minute pop song. The guitars jangle and jump, while the drums crash before making way for the passionate vocals of front-man Lewis Sharman. It’s a three and a half minute pop song, whilst being characteristically Best Friends it’s a big step up and is sure to become a fan favorite at the many upcoming shows the band will be appearing at.
