Previously our favourite song by The Damn Quails was ‘Me and the Whiskey’ but we realise that’s far from the best song to be recommending to people… luckily the band have returned with a new album, and a new song which is now our favourite.

‘Everything is Fine’ has a classic format: sing ‘Everything is Fine’ over and over again in an increasingly desperate and unbelievable way, and in between talk about why it isn’t… but what a perfect summation of how millions in the UK have been plodding forward for a few years of utter confusion and chaos.

We’d love to see a Damn Quails set at Black Deer. The band are over twenty years old, have only recently come back from d a long hiatus, and only released three albums: this is a touring and gigging outfit, that’s what they love. They should be much better known.
