Fort Lean are a Brooklyn based 5 piece– Hey! I bet you loved reading that sentence! Somewhere along the way, writing ‘Brooklyn based 5 piece’ started feeling like writing ‘gang of heinous seal clubbers’ or ‘wet mouthed nephew groomers’. I don’t even know why. I haven’t ever been to Brooklyn. Last time I was in that part of America, Pulp Fiction was still showing in the cinema. That’s a long time ago. Tourist folk didn’t go to Brooklyn back then. In fact, if a band had been described as a Brooklyn based 5 piece at some point in the mid 90s I would have thought they were some sort of hard ass chain smoking greaseballs, kinda John Travolta fronting Faith No More, rather than the whining anthem indie meets Animal Collective reverb plus whatever else is a bit trendy, oh and some floaty visuals as well btw, mish mash of bleeuurgh that Fort Lean are shouting in my ears as I type.
