Happyness new summer anthem ‘SB’s Truck’

May 13, 2016

London-based Happyness return with a new track ahead of their second album – the follow-up to 2015 aural time-machine Weird Little Birthday. Throw on your slacks and take a load off, because once again it’s 1994 and the summer’s just begun.

‘SB’s Truck’, as the band explain, “has something to do with [the late, famed, 80s wrestler and actor] André The Giant as a teenager having to be taken to school in Samuel Beckett’s truck because he couldn’t fit in his dad’s car.”…naturally. The track is more of what you’ve come to expect; pop vocal hooks and slacker-soaked guitar, this time recalling the early sound of Americana giants, Wilco. The song builds up to a refrain you’ll be humming all summer-long, or at least long enough until the release of Happyness’ second record, which if this is anything to go by, is set to occupy any 90s revivalist’s walkman until the tape burns out….

You can catch Happyness on tour with indie-forefathers, The Dandy Warhols at the Electric Ballroom in Camden on 21st May, and through out the UK the following week.
