Let’s face it ladies and gentlemen, it’s been a very weird few weeks in the UK, and it feels like nobody whatever their political or other beliefs is actually pleased at this time, except Rishi’s mum who’s going to absolutely fucking dominate any Halloween parties.

So, a song full of hope. Not a song that’ll necessarily mesh with everyone, but give it a go. It’s Lazarus Online by Wolf Parade, with lyrics which deal with loss, thoughts of committing suicide, and ultimately the feeling of deciding to mourn while staying alive, of keeping fighting and keeping the spirits up by sticking with it.

The band are Canadian, formed in 2003, and have had some breaks over the years, with their last studio album out in 2020. Lazarus Online is from 2017’s album Cry Cry Cry.
