The lack of singles about Croatian Tennis players is really a damning indictment of our musical climate.
We Are The Physics attempt to redress the balance with their new single about the 2001 Wimbledon winner. They explain that his “furious drive and refusal to quit in the face of worldwide sneering” meant that they found him “equally admirable and terrifying“.
The seven syllable name is awkwardly shoehorned in at the end, but other than that it’s commendable how they seamlessly fit it into a thumping Indie-Rock single. Sounding desparate and rowdy, WATP boundlessly thud the name of the 6’4 Croat into our skulls.
Loud, slightly eccentric and with an unwavering belief in their subject matter, if you’re going to return for “the difficult second album” then this is how you do it.
This is the lead single off their album We Are The Physics Are OK At Music and it’s out NOW. Have a video, you little soldier.
