Poetry has been an art form I truly enjoyed when I was in school. I was so excited to get to English and read through the poetry book and see which poem and poet we would be studying that day.
There is a beauty about poetry which makes you feel all those emotions the poet is putting down on the page. It’s a thrilling and inspiring model of literary writing.
I am pleased to have permission to review a breathtaking poetry collection by the inspirational Charlotte R. Faulconbridge.
Charlotte is a British author, award-winning poet, and musician from the South West. She is neurodivergent and chronically ill but has not let these aspects stop her from being as influential as she is.
Like many neurodiverse individuals, Charlotte discovered a creative outlet for her emotions in the form of music and literature. That’s where this collection originates.
The Warring Twenties has a music theme around it, from the title to themes that run through the poems and chapters. It’s what gives this collection an original tone which makes it stand out from other collections.
Charlotte’s voice, style, and flow are so unique and smooth and make each poem a standout experience. You can feel each emotion that was put into crafting each work of art that makes up this collection.
The standout poems in my eyes are Do You Love Me Too, I Want To Publish Your Poetry, Under The Poetry, and To the Power of Love. While every poem is enjoyable, these ones stand out for the emotion and message each one carries
.
Do You Love Me Too is a beautiful story of love and expression and wonder. The metaphors make the story come alive inside your head. It makes you feel the doubt of asking the question of whether someone feels the same as you.
I Want To Publish Your Poetry is a thank you letter to the art and other poets. It gives reasons why poetry is something to fall in love with. It uses witty imagery to express what poetry means and what poetry has to offer.
Under The Poetry describes what poetry feels like to me. It’s a cluster of emotions that hit you, words to make memories with. It makes you laugh and cry all at the same time.
To The Power Of Love is all about love, shocking. Charlotte uses perfect language and metaphors with stunning imagery in this poem. It explains the essence of what love is with a hint of loss.
I could talk about each poem and why I think they are spectacular works of art, but I ask, no, implore you to buy a copy for yourself from the links below. If you have any interest in poetry, then I would suggest picking a copy up. Charlotte is a superb writer and deserves all the success she has found, and I can guarantee there will be a lot more success for her in the future.
